Placement Defaults Dialog

Used to set the placement defaults for a particular feature type. These defaults include feature attribute values, geometries (offset distance and angle for the feature symbol, offset distance and angle for the feature annotation, downstream or upstream placement, etc.), and connectivity rules. If the Placement Defaults dialog is accessed from the Job Default Assistant, the settings will apply to the current job default; if accessed from the Design Assistant, the settings will apply to the current design.

SettingDescription
Feature box Displays the name of the selected feature. If the feature is a compound feature, its components are shown.
Default Values Displays the attributes that define the selected feature (or the selected component of the compound feature) and the default values for each attribute. Clicking an attribute value makes the field editable so you can specify a new value. Attributes that derive their values from a global setting are indicated by an icon. Linked attributes of compound features are indicated by an icon that shows the "from-to" direction of inheritance. Changing the default value of the parent will automatically update the attribute for the child; changing the child value does not affect the parent value.
Compatible Unit Matches Lists compatible units that match the attributes that have been defined for the feature type. Clicking the check box for a unit will assign the unit automatically when the feature is assigned. Any check mark that appears dimmed indicates that one unit matches the feature type exactly.
